Life is always at some turning point. — Irwin Edman

We must choose. Everyday. All the time. It’s the turns and changes that get us where we want to be. Think of all the seemingly insignificant decisions you make in a day. How many of them have led to life changing situations?

Brainstorm the following scenarios

. How could each lead to life-altering consequences? Let loose and have some fun with it. How extreme can you make the results?

  • Get the coffee to go or sip it in the café?
  • Take that phone call or let it go to voicemail?
  • Crank the heat up or put on a sweater?
  • Take the highway or the scenic route?
  • Buy the book or borrow it from the library?
  • Swipe right or swipe left?
  • Arrive 5 minutes too late?

Now consider your own manuscript- what turning points exist? How does your character’s random choices impact them?
