One of the best parts of finishing a great story can be seeing how the author got us from beginning to end. While most common in mysteries, almost any story can benefit from a few insignificant-seeming details inserted along the way, that upon reflection at the end, make us realize there were signs all along.
Review your manuscript for decision points where your character makes a choice. Work backward to determine what things, experiences, conversations, and meaningful objects impacted that decision. Can you seed something earlier in the manuscript that will build on other things to tip the character into a particular choice.
