When I’m driving the highway by myself is when I write best. – Willie Nelson

Why does the open road prove to be such a successful muse? Why do so many of our best ideas come in the shower? Why does a long run, aimless walk, or a bike ride all alone through the trails spark so many solutions to creative problems? No matter the reason, motion, simple distractions, and relaxation act like creative grease, lubricating our minds to all kinds of possibilities and breaking out overthinking tendencies. (And trust me- I know a LOT about overthinking.)

What are you overthinking? What about your characters? What do you have them doing to break through their blocks and finally see things clearly? What do you do? If your characters aren’t overthinking at least a little in your novel, why not?
